Summary of Our Services:

Looking to purchase a new watercraft? Get it surveyed by Captain Tony

A marine surveyor is a person who conducts inspections, surveys or examinations of marine vessels to assess overall condition, value or damage to a vessel.

Captain Tony, LLC, does on-site boat inspections with the vessels removed from the water, in sling (or shored up) for a minimum of 2 hours. The vessel may be returned to the water if need be to save hoist fees.

After our thorough marine inspection you will receive an approximately 40-page report (or more depending on the size of the vessel) that includes pictures, locations and the condition of all components of your vessel.

We give you the value of the vessel based on our findings, which you may turn over to your bank and/or insurance company.

Why have a boat surveyed?

A boat is probably the second largest single purchase you will make.  The largest being a house and no one buys a house without having it inspected first. A boat with a survey within 2 years of sale is much more likely to be sold or purchased according to a national average. A marine survey provides peace of mind that the the vessel is in seaworthy and good condition, And that it contains all the features advertised, and is worth at least what you are paying for it.

When Captain Tony surveys a boat it is complete. Our marine surveys include a complete moisture and density check of all fiberglass, stringers, bulkheads, hull, bottom and decks.

What Captain Tony will inspect on your vessel includes:

  • All the electrical components and wiring on the vessel
  • All the mechanical systems of each vessel
  • The structure integrity of the vessel
  • The running gear
  • The safety of the vessel
  • The vessel is in good condition and seaworthy

The survey report will highlight areas where immediate attention is needed or suggestions for future modifications. A copy of my recent survey is available for email upon request.

We offer our clients detailed marine survey reports in three different ways

  • Email PFD format ( included in my fee)
  • One color and one black and white copy bound. (extra charge) UPS
  • Overnight UPS (extra charge)

Marine surveys are not always for pre-purchase.  You may wish to have a boat surveyed as it reaches an age where repairs may be required or following damage. Captain Tony can survey your vessel for whatever reason you need it to be surveyed.

Complete discretion and confidentiality between owner and surveyor is assured.

Other marine services Captain Tony offers include:

  • In water sea trials
  • Vessel damage surveys
  • Insurance inspections/re-inspections
  • Bank appraisals
  • Yacht and boat delivery
  • Commercial and USCG licensed vessels

All in all, a survey can give you the reassurance you need, whether your boat is a hobby, investment, or home.
